This trolling plate is easy to install and use, but it slows the boat down too much for trolling without throttling up. The solution is to cut another set of slots halfway between the others to allow the plate to lock at 45 degrees- then optimum speed and boat control is achieved.

I utilize it almost everyday It takes about two miles a hour off normal boat trolling speed. Would like about an other half mile an hour off. Never have got dropping of or lifting of the plate with out stopping boat and doing some manual contortions
