Very simple to install
I have now used My EasyTroller Trolling Plate a few times and it is a big improvement from the old plate that was on My old boat. New boat so I got a new plate and this is nice having a anti-bend feature. I never bent My old plate but that was always a concern, I purchased the Standard plate for My 50 hp Merc and it is great because I can get My speed down to 1/2 mph on My 16 foot pontoon boat when wanted and when needed I could throttle up a bit and not worry about bending the plate while working against the wind and then slow back down to the speed I want.
Easy to install, doesn't add much weight to the boat and works great!
Installation was quick and easy. It works exactly how it is advertised. Slowed me down to perfect trolling speed and the speed is adjustable with the throttle. The only suggestion I would have is to put an indicator tab on the plate to make it easier to see when the plate is up or down. With my I/O it is difficult to see the plate with my swim platform on the back of the boat. I will probably put a small rod on the plate and color the end of it to be sure the plate is horizontal before moving the boat.
Purchased the small size for my 2008 Mercury 25 HP 4-stroke. It fits perfectly and works very well. Slows my Lund boat down from 1.6 mph to 0.7 MPH. Perfect when fishing deep for lake trout with copper line. I may also add the fins later and cut a set of notches midway to increase the speed slightly when conditions merit. I also added the end of a rope start from a lawnmower to the rope release cord. Thanks for a quality product
The product arrived on time. Very well built, heavy duty materials. Slowed my troll down to 1 mph - Honda 50. Perfect for walleye and lake trout. Caught three lakers first time out with the product. Initially I was considering a trolling motor - but this is so much better - cheaper, less wieght and easier to control than a trolling motor. I also purchased the replacement spring kit at the same time. Small bag and it fits in my storage compartment on the boat.
I purchased the Easy Troller in June, 2015 from Cabela's. I just tried the boat out last week and the Easy Troller really helped slow my boat down to a good trolling speed. The only thing I could not figure out was you pull the rope and it releases the Easy Troller but we finally figured out the only way to get the plate to come up was to accelerate the boat and then it would come up and lock in place. If you need to slow your boat down to a good trolling speed this is the product you need, it is very well-made and should last for years.
Totally impressed by this unit, was easy to install, works very well, installed on a 90 hp and at idle in gear took it down to 1 mph.
great product, allows highe rpm trolliing on 2 stoke 115 merc at 1.8mph without loading up spark plugs. Performs as hoped/expected.
